Kevin Teets

Kevin believes people matter and he thoroughly enjoys fighting for justice in the areas of criminal defense and personal injury cases. He also enjoys helping individuals and businesses plan for their future and solve problems and legal issues they are facing.

Consultations are free, and Kevin enjoys representing clients that are facing a problem, whether that’s an arrest and criminal prosecution or a civil issue relating to family law or personal injury.

Kevin graduated from law school in 2009 from Drake University. He was the only student in his law school class to be chosen for both the National Moot Court and National Mock Trial Teams. He was twice named a finalist in the Iowa Supreme Court Appellate Advocacy competition, was named best advocate by the Midwest Regional Moot Court Competition and he and his moot court team placed third in the nation in appellate brief writing.

He also earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Drake University and he has a passion for political campaigns and public policy. Kevin first worked in politics as an intern in Governor Phil Bredesen’s office and later worked at the Tennessee General Assembly and has managed campaigns for candidates running for U.S. Congress, District Attorney, state senator and Nashville mayor. Kevin has also worked as the Executive Director of the Tennessee Democratic Party and he has previously been an adjunct college professor.

Prior to starting his own law firm, Kevin has been an assistant district attorney in Nashville and has worked in civil litigation law firms in Tennessee and Iowa. He is presently a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association and the Tennessee Criminal Defense Bar Association.

He grew up in a small town outside of Clarksville, Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and earned degrees in political science and communications. Kevin is also a proud member of his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Kevin’s additional professional accomplishments include:

  • Selected for Nashville’s Emerging Leaders, Class of 2017 
  • Gold Pollie Award Recipient from the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) for opposition research and press strategies
  • Tennessee Higher Education Commissioner, Appointed by Gov. Phil Bredesen for 2005-2007 terms.
  • Southeastern Journalism Conference: Placed 1st in the Public Relations Competition in 2005 and 2006
  • Tennessee Bar Association, Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity, Tennessee Young Democrats
  • Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity: University of TN at Martin Alumni Board President (2012-Present)
  • Coached the Drake University undergraduate moot court team to a first place win in the nation (2008).
  • Spoken to college students from more than 150 campuses on sexual assault and hazing prevention
